Outfit of the Birthday party- plus new hair!

Today was my youngest nephew's third birthday party, so we went over to my sis-in-laws for a cookout and cake.
The birthday boy, Alex. He got so excited when he opened this toy!

Time for presents! (That's my almost five-year old nephew on the far left)

Jimmy acting silly with a creepy toy frog.
This was the gift Alex got from his parents. This thing is so cool. It has a real radio in it!

And now onto the outfit! It wasn't anything fancy.

I don't know why I look so stumpy in this picture. It might be because my husband is 6'1'' and I'm 5'4'', so the angle is a little skewed. Really this shirt isn't quite this long, and my legs aren't quite this short. : )

Outfit Details:
White Lace Camisole: Avenue
Floral top: Old Navy
Jeans: Avenue
Flip Flops: Avenue
Earrings: Avenue
Bangle: Avenue

I don't know if you can tell (I couldn't seem to get any good pictures!), but my hair is auburn now with coppery highlights. I had JeriLe cut it straight across instead of in my typical angled bob as well. Not very dramatic, but a nice change.

I got into a conversation about hairstyles and color today, and now I'm curious; Do you tend to change your hair based on the seasons? I know a lot of women go shorter and lighter in the summer, but I've never really been one to do so.

  1. I love that shirt over the cami. Adorable! Squee!

I add more highlights to my hair in the summer. Well, my hairdresser adds more highlights. I go a little bit darker in the fall/winter, too.

  2. you look totally adorable :)

I had long hair all fall/winter while living in BC, and a couple weeks after moving here to Hawaii I chopped it all off. I play around with accessories too - right now I have a big white ribbon playing Alice-band :)

  3. That hair color is a great shade on you! It makes your skin look really nice. That floral top isn't recent, is it? I "window shop" Old Navy like a fiend but I don't remember seeing that top on the site.

Also thanks for the kind words at my blog. :)

  4. I like your hair! I always tell myself I'm going to change my hair one day, and I never do. I cut about 10 inches off my hair a couple of months ago, but I probably won't do that again for another couple of years. I'm not brave enough. I just cut it when it gets too long and it takes too long to style.

p.s. I have the same problem when my husband takes pictures of me. He's learned to kneel or just hold the camera a lot lower, it really makes a difference.

  6. DanaElayne & HollyElise- Thanks so much! My sis-in-law tends to lighten hers for the summer, and I never really have, so I was wondering how common it really is for women to do it. I guess I'm the weirdo! lol

MissT- It's not too recent. I snapped it up before it sold out, maybe six months ago (?). They did have solid colored ones too, but I loved the print on this!

Maria- I would say chopping off 10 inches is a big change! I've always been one to mess around with my hair. I cut it, then let it grow, then color it differently. My last hair cut/color was probably the longest lasting style I've had in years! I think I had it that way for a good year or so.

    Tobey- Thanks so much!
